SMIT Terminals Europe and PETCO signed an exclusive commercial services and agency agreement
Due to the successful partnership between SMIT and PETCO in the KOC hire of marine vessels, SMIT Terminals Europe and PETCO signed an exclusive commercial services and agency agreement for the territory of Kuwait and the neutral zone.

BACEI S.P.A sign a consultancy calloff services agreement in Kuwait
BACEI S.P.A signed a consultancy calloff services agreement to KNPC New Refinery Project – Clean Fuel Project and the projects department. In this 5 year contract BACEI will provide KNPC with specialized human resources to assist in their upcoming projects.

SMIT obtains terminal contract in Kuwait
SMIT has been awarded a 4 year contract, with option to extend, by the Kuwait Oil Company (KSC) to provide assistance to tankers calling at their oil terminals in Kuwait. Whilst this is the first terminal assistance contract in Kuwait for SMIT, SMIT has a long track record of service provision in this area, especially in its Salvage Division.
SMIT will support the various tankers calling at KOC’s shore terminals and a number of Single Point Moorings (SPM’s) offshore.A total of 10 vessels will be deployed of which 3 smaller tugs of 35-45 tbp, 2 larger tugs of 70 tbp, 3 pilot boats, 1 mooring vessel and 1 crane-equipped self propelled work barge. The majority of these vessels will be new buildings. The contract will commence as per July 2008.

New seismic contract in the Middle East for Fugro
Fugro has been awarded work of major high density 3D and regional 2D marine seismic project by the Al-Khafji Joint Operations. The award comprises the 3D and 2D marine seismic data acquisition and the full scale seismic data processing. The project, which is to start in late April 2007, will be carried out in the KJO Offshore area. The duration of the project is up to twelve months. The total value of the contract is USD 38 million (EUR 29 million).
Al-Khafji Joint Operations is a joint venture between the Aramco Gulf Operations Company Limited and Kuwait Gulf Oil Company (K.S.C.), at Al-Khafji, Saudi Arabia, for oil and gas exploration, development and production in the KJO Offshore area.
Fugro will use its seismic vessel Geo Baltic for this project.

Hyundai Heavy Industries awards Bluewater SPM Contract
Hyundai Heavy Industries Co. LTD. has awarded Bluewater Energy Services B.V. a contract for the design and supply of two new Single Point Mooring (SPM) systems and the upgrading of two existing SPMs for the Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) terminal. The buoys will be located 15 to 25 km offshore Al Ahmadi, Kuwait. in a water depth of approximately 25 to 30 metres servicing ULCC size tankers.
Bluewater’s scope for the new SPM systems comprises the design and supply of the catenary anchor leg mooring (CALM) buoys, the pipeline end manifolds (PLEMs), the submarine and floating hose strings as well as advanced instrumentation and control systems. On the existing CALM buoys, Bluewater will modify and upgrade the buoy piping, the product swivels and the electrical and instrumentation systems.
This project will increase the number of tanker berths at the terminal from two to four as part of Hyundai Heavy Industries scope of work, under their larger contract with KOC for the crude export facilities.
